Standard uninstall

  1. Open Windows Installed apps or Apps & features.
  2. Select Vigilante Endpoint Protection and choose Uninstall.
  3. Approve the administrator prompt if Windows requests it.
  4. After completion, verify that `VigilanteAgentService` and `VigilantePrivilegedHelper` are no longer present.

The NSIS custom uninstall action stops and deletes both Vigilante services and removes the two Vigilante-owned firewall isolation rules.

Silent uninstall

NSIS supports the quiet switch `/S`, and the product source uses it for a trusted staged-installer execution path. However, the signed 1.0.9 release was not executed in a clean-VM uninstall test. Treat silent removal as an administrator-managed operation that must be validated in your environment.

Application data

The standard custom uninstall preserves `C:\ProgramData\VigilanteEDR`, including endpoint identity, protected secret, quarantine, and policy. The source contains an internal `-PurgeData` option that removes that exact directory, but the NSIS uninstall hook does not pass that switch. This documentation therefore does not present data purge as part of standard uninstall.

Restart and limitations

No restart requirement is declared by the installer source. The release report records that uninstall behavior and clean-machine runtime acceptance were not tested, so restart behavior and cleanup on all Windows configurations remain unverified.
